Description:
interRAI Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF) is a comprehensive, standardized assessment for evaluating the needs, strengths, and preferences of persons in nursing home residential care. This course will enable nursing home staff to become competent interRAI LTCF assessors.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Acquire observation and interviewing skills to accurately code answers on interRAI LTCF
- Conduct, understand, complete, and interpret the LTCF assessment
- Practice conducting assessments via practicum and discussion
- Hands-on assessments with actual nursing home clients to assess cases using InterRAI LTCF
- Learn how to interpret outcome scales and clinical assessment protocols (CAPs) generated to design a suitable care plan to meet the needs of the nursing home client
Course Duration and Outline
The course comprises:
- 3 days of Classroom training (theory),
- 0.5 days of Group Practicum, and
- An inter-rater Competency Assessment (2 hours)
Learners must register for Classroom dates + Practicum dates on the Learning Management System. The date for the Competency Assessment will be arranged between the Learning Institute and Learners during your lecture.

To understand the class dates on the right - for each batch, you'll see 3 possible dates to register for. The difference between the 3 is the practicum date, the 1st class is in the morning, the 2nd class is in the afternoon, and the 3rd class is the 2nd day, morning.
Who Should Attend
Nursing Home staff who are conducting assessments on clients:
- Preferably Registered Nurse (RN), Medical Social Worker (MSW), Physical Therapist (PT)/ Occupational Therapist (OT) / Speech Therapist (ST) / Pharmacist, Enrolled Nurse (EN), Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA), Social Work Associate (SWA); OR
- Nursing Aide with at least 2 years of experience in Singapore with a recommendation by their organization
Registration Details:
Kindly note registration is only open to the respective Nursing Homes that have been assigned with Training Waves from AIC.
Confirmation email will only be sent 2 weeks before a course starts, if you have registered early but have not received any email from me you can safely assume your slot is confirmed.
Once you have registered yourself / your staff for a run, make sure that you / your staff are free for the dates in the practicum and competency as well. Please do not take leave, or be scheduled for roster duty during those dates.

Additional information
A minimum of 75% attendance (theory and practicum mandated) and a pass in Competency assessment are required for the completion of course and to receive your certification.
The course fee will be fully subsidised by MOH/AIC for eligible nursing home care staff.
In the event of late cancellation by participant with no replacement, or no-show on actual training day, $200 cancellation charges may be incurred to participant's organisation.
Please note that participants will be required to provide a company email when creating a LTCF acutenet account after they have completed the course. This can be a shared ward email for example. Participants will also be required to provide their handphone number during the lecture so that the trainers can contact them during practicum and competency sessions.
