This course equips healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and practical skills in bladder scanning a non-invasive method to assess bladder volume. It covers urinary anatomy, scan indications, equipment use, result interpretation, and documentation. Emphasis is placed on patient preparation, accurate technique, troubleshooting, and escalation of care. Hands-on practice enhances confidence and competence in various clinical settings.

Course Objectives

​​​​ Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system, the indications for bladder scanning, and the principles behind the technology used in bladder scanners.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to correctly operate bladder scanning equipment, including patient preparation, positioning, and technique, to obtain accurate and reliable bladder volume measurements.
  3. Interpret bladder scan results, document findings appropriately, and make informed clinical decisions or escalate care based on the results obtained.
