Description

Our Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAC Supervisor) programme takes place across 3 days and comprises of 3 modules namely Improvement Toolkit - Basic , Patient Safety and Adverse Event Management and Quality assurance and Clinical Data management. The programme will provide you with the concepts and applications to perform the roles and responsibilities of a QAC Supervisor for a Nursing Home (or equivalent).

Day 1: Improvement Toolkit Basic will introduce participants to Quality in Healthcare and the Science of Improvement and Common Improvement Tools including PDSA and 6S.
Day 2: Patient Safety and Adverse Event Management will bring participants through the process of incident reporting and review including root cause analysis, and effective communication after incident.
Day 3: Quality Assurance and Clinical Data Management will cover understanding of quality assurance, how to conduct audit of the care processes, manage clinical data, review guidelines and work instructions to ensure compliance to standards of practice and care.

Course fee:

$2100 (before GST)

AIC funding is applicable for Singaporean / Permanent Resident at 90% and Workpass permit holders at 45%.

Improvement Toolkit - Basic
Course Description The Improvement Toolkit – Basic course introduces participants to fundamental concepts of quality in healthcare and the science of improvement. Participants will learn to apply essential improvement tools, including 6S, Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, and A3 Storyboard, to initiate and participate in improvement projects effectively. The curriculum introduces developing problem and mission statements, conducting diagnostic journeys, measuring improvements, calculating cost savings, and strategies for sustaining and spreading enhancements. By the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to participate in improvement project utilizing 6S or PDSA methodologies. Learning Outcomes: By the end of this 8 hr course, participants will be able to: Understand the principles of quality in healthcare and the science of improvement. Develop clear problem and mission statements to guide improvement initiatives. Apply the 6S methodology to organize and optimize the workplace environment. Implement PDSA cycles to test and refine improvement strategies. Understand A3 Storyboard to document and communicate improvement projects effectively. Patient Safety and Adverse Event Management
Course Description This course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the reporting an incident and managing adverse events across both clinical and non-clinical settings. The course will also cover definition of clinical incidents, learning from past incidents, incident review and management system, SAC (Severity Assessment Code) scoring, Human Factors Classification System (HFACS), RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to identify underlying causes of incidents, developing and implementing effective interventions, and monitoring their sustainability. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will gain hands-on experience in conducting incident reviews, planning interventions, and ensuring continuous improvement in patient safety. Effective communication is crucial in managing the aftermath of adverse events in healthcare settings. This course provides participants with the principles and practices of open disclosure, including strategies for delivering difficult news to families and managing their expectations. It also addresses supporting staff who may be considered "second victims" by applying the Just Culture approach during the review process. Key topics include defining incidents and communication, understanding roles and responsibilities, selecting appropriate communication channels, and utilizing communication templates. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will develop the skills necessary to navigate complex conversations and foster a culture of transparency and support.
