Course Outline

  1. Identify early symptoms of infectious disease in client and report them promptly to the appropriate healthcare professional
  2. Apply and enforce infection prevention strategies within the care setting
  3. Implement, monitor and evaluate individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs of clients
  4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide a holistic and coordinated care
  5. Apply effective therapeutic communication techniques to interact with clients and healthcare professionals
  6. Use clear and respectful communication to share client information and observation with hearth care team
  7. Develop and facilitating group and social therapy sessions, ensuring activities are safe and suitable for all participants
  8. Modify activities to accommodate the varying abilities and need of the client within the care setting
  9. Assist therapists in conducting comprehensive client assessment of clients by provide observation and assist in simple clinical tasks in safe manner
  10. Educate clients on the necessary information and skills required for safe and effective participation in therapy sessions
  11. Empower clients through education to enhance their understanding of therapy goals and self-care practices

Who should attend:

Experienced Community Care worker appointed to ensure the implementation of operational procedures in the provision of healthcare (Nursing and Therapy) services in the following LTC setting:

  • Nursing Homes
  • Senior Care Centres
  • Active ageing Centres
  • Day Rehabilitation Centres

Minimum Entry Qualification:

  • Obtained WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare (Community Care) AND
  • With at least 2 years of working experience as CCA in the Community Care Sector

If staff do not meet these minimum requirements, please contact Training Provider for possible waiver.

Course (Face to Face)
WSQ Intervention Implementation (Level 3)
This course targets senior support care staff who have been in the industry for at least two years and does not have prior knowledge or skills on intervention implementation and individualised care planning. This will enhance their role so they can take on higher responsibilities to better support therapist and nurses in the healthcare industry. Performance gaps were identified from stakeholders’ feedback from assessments of support care staff competencies from their Learning Needs Analysis. This is one of the courses that has been identified as essential for career progression for support care staff so that they can better support qualified therapist and nurses, and as a refresher for existing staff who require re-assessment of competencies when there is a performance gap.

Course (Face to Face)
WSQ Infection Prevention and Control in Nursing Practice (Level 3)
This course targets senior support care staff who have been in the industry for at least two years and builds upon the foundation of basic Infection Prevention and Control practice. This higher level will incorporate symptom recognition and environmental audit for early detection and prevention of spread. The knowledge and skills will enhance the role of senior support care staff so they can take on higher re-sponsibilities to better support therapist and nurses in the healthcare industry

WSQ Patient Care Delivery in Nursing (Level 3) (Classroom & Asynchronous)
Patient Care Delivery targets senior support care staff who have been in the industry for at least two years and do not have prior knowledge or skills on Patient Care Delivery at Level 3. Learners will be taught on how to carry out plans of care. This will enhance their role so they can take on higher responsibilities to better support therapist and nurses in the healthcare industry.

WSQ Effective Communication in Nursing (Level 3)
Effective Communication in Nursing is a 8 hour training for Community Care Associates who are ready to take on a senior role in understanding the principles and techniques in therapeutic communication before proceeding to communication of confidential information and transfer of patient care.

Course (Face to Face)
WSQ Group Therapy Planning and Implementation (Level 3)
First, the learners will learn about the benefits of types of group therapy activities. Once the learners have a solid background of the above topic, the focus can now shift to group therapy itself. Building on the knowledge of group therapy, the topic of group therapy facilitation techniques comes next. Next, the learners will be exposed to group therapy activity modification and group therapy dynamics. Finally, it is important for learners to track client progress to improve delivery of service.

Client Assessment in Therapy Support (Level 1)
Client Assessment in Therapy Support is a 12 hour training for Community Care Associates who are ready to take on a senior role with skills and knowledge so as to assist therapists in conducting comprehensive client assessment of clients by providing observation and assisting in simple clinical tasks carried out in a safe manner. This training will be conducted as a face to face training. Client Education in Therapy Support is a 8 hour training for Community Care Associates who are ready to take on a senior role with skills and knowledge so as to empower clients through education and to enhance their understanding of therapy goals and self-care practices. This training will be conducted as a face to face training.
