Course Description

The purpose of the program is to introduce succinctly to new educators, trainers, caregivers and caregiving professionals to be able to recognise, prevent, and manage crisis behaviours using person-centred and trauma-informed responses. The intent is to build on and establish a common philosophy and framework for the organization’s management of distress.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, the learner should be able keep themselves and their child/ ward safe in spite of the child/ ward’s state of distress.

The learners will be introduced to the following knowledge and skills:

  • The importance of a paradigm shift and how an internal shift of values is critical to protecting others and themselves
  • The concept of baseline behaviour and how it impacts assessment of an individual’s distress level
  • How to identify and respond to the various levels of crisis behaviours.
  • Understand the levels of crisis behaviours and use early intervention strategies to prevent the crisis from escalating
  • Manage their own emotional responses to the distress behaviour

Minimum Entry Requirements

The target audience for this course includes

  • New Teachers and Instructors
  • Frontline staff working with beneficiaries who are prone to meltdowns
  • Family Caregivers
  • Student Care Centre Staff
  • Company Managers and staff working alongside people who may occasionally experience crisis behaviours

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by:

  • Certificate of completion from APSN Ltd.

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from APSN Ltd.

Fees Refund Policy

  • APSN Ltd (ALH) shall communicate its refund policy and procedure to all current and prospective learners via its course website and/or on its course enrolment forms.
  • For refund for withdrawal due to non-delivery of course, the ALH will notify the learner within 3 working days upon knowledge of any of the following:
    • It does not commence the course on the course commencement date;
    • It terminates the course before the course commencement date;
    • It does not complete the course by the course completion date;
    • It terminates the course before the course completion date;
  • The ALH will also inform the learner in writing of alternative study arrangements, if any. The learner will be entitled to a refund of the entire course fees and miscellaneous fees already paid if the learner decides to withdraw, within 7 working days of the above notice,
  • For refund for withdrawal due to reasons other than non-delivery of course, the ALH will, within 14 working days of receiving the learner’s written notice of withdrawal, refund to the learner an amount based on the following table:
