Course Description:

The Improvement Toolkit Advance course focuses on equipping participants with comprehensive and in depth training in the 6S Methodology and its practical application in healthcare improvement projects. Participants will gain hands-on experience in crafting problem and mission statements, gathering and presenting evidence of problems and planning and executing interventions. The course also includes project management techniques, measures to demonstrate improvement, cost savings calculations, and strategies for sustaining and spreading improvements. Participants will be supported post-course (up to 6 months) with guidance from experienced improvement coach and trainer to facilitate their improvement projects.This course also covers the preparation of project abstracts, posters, and presentations, ensuring participants are well-equipped to communicate their findings and lead impactful projects.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this 7 hr course, participants will be able to:

• Master the 6S Methodology and its application in improvement initiatives.
• Develop problem and mission statements that define and address healthcare inefficiencies.
• Gather evidence of problems and present findings using graphs and survey templates.
• Apply effective project management techniques in improvement projects.
• Plan and execute interventions to address identified gaps in processes.
• Measure improvements and calculate cost savings resulting from interventions.
• Develop strategies for sustaining and spreading improvements across teams or organisations.
• Prepare and deliver impactful project abstracts, posters, and presentations.
• Lead and complete at least one improvement project, supported by coaching and facilitation.
