Course Objectives

This course is designed to enhance the skills of Security Officer / APOs / APOEs with the basic Built Environment, Facilities Visual Inspection and using the Inspection Checklist while performing patrol duty around the premises. These officers will be trained to acquire the knowledge and abilities to identify malicious activities in the building environment according to organisational procedures. This course also aims to provide the competencies in measuring risk on security and safety by discerning the environment.

Course Content

The purpose of this Technical Skills and Competence (TSC) Unit is to enable Security Officers, Auxiliary Police Officers (APOs) and Auxiliary Police Officers (Enforcement) [APO(E)s] to acquire the fundamental knowledge and skills in facilities visual inspection for the safety and security of the guarding premises. It consists of the following Knowledge and Abilities:

• Introduction to Built Environment
• Integrated Visual Inspection
• Threat Identification at Facilities
• Incident Reporting for Facilities

Minimum Entry Requirement

Entry Requirements Learners must;

• Be able to read, write and speak English at WPL Level 4
• Be able to manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4
• Be able to act in a professional manner
• Be able to observe confidently
• Be vigilant at all times

Nationality

Singapore Citizens, Malaysian Citizens who are Singapore Permanent Residents or Malaysian holders of Work Permits or Employment Passes.

Age

The minimum entry age for an APO and Security Officer shall be 18 years old at the time of application and the maximum age shall be 60 years old.

Physical and Medical Requirement

• Certified by a medical doctor to be physically fit for work
• Not be colour-blind or hearing impaired

Education Qualifications

The minimum entry educational qualification for Auxiliary Police Officers and APO (Enforcement) shall be 3 GCE ‘N” Level credits, 3 SPM Credits, NITEC or their equivalent. Security Officer shall be 3 GCE ‘N” Level credits, 3 SPM Credits, NITEC or their equivalent.
