Course Objectives

On completion of this course, learner will have the knowledge and application skills in operating basic security equipment at worksite. This include:

  • Operate access control equipment
  • Alarm monitoring
  • Closed circuit television (CCTV) monitoring

Course Content

Manage access points of entry for different levels of authorized entries. It consists of the following Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Organisational procedures for handling access control equipment during entry and exit of pedestrians and vehicles
  • Techniques of Visitor pattern analysis
  • Types of Biometrics and automatic number plate recognition
  • Role and responsibilities in operating the alarm monitoring equipment
  • Role and responsibilities in operating the closed-circuit television equipment
  • Types of incident reporting procedures
  • Types and uses of access control equipment
  • Characteristics and limitations of access control equipment
  • List of prohibited and hazardous items and goods
  • Types of documentation relating to access control equipment
  • Operate access control equipment in accordance to organisation procedures
  • Operate alarm monitoring equipment according to organisation procedures
  • Operate closed-circuit television equipment according to organisation procedures
  • Identify access points of entry for different levels of authorised entries
  • Report locations of unauthorised entries
  • Identify nature of unauthorised entries with the use of visitor pattern analysis
  • Enter particulars of authorised staff into card access systems
  • Activate key pads
  • Complete relevant documentation relating to access control operations
  • Carry out basic troubleshooting and report access control equipment faults to supervisors

Minimum Entry Requirement

Qualification:

  • The minimum entry educational qualification for Auxiliary Police Officers and APO (Enforcement) below the rank of Auxiliary Police Inspector shall be 3 GCE ‘N” Level credits, 3 SPM Credits, NITEC or their equivalent.
  • The minimum entry educational qualification for Security Officer shall be 3 GCE ‘N” Level credits, 3 SPM Credits, NITEC or their equivalent and have completed the Basic Licensing Unit.

Nationality:

Singapore Citizens, Malaysian Citizens who are Singapore Permanent Residents or Malaysian holders of Work Permits or Employment Passes.

Physical and Medical Requirement:

  • Certified by a medical doctor to be physically fit for work
  • Not be colour-blind or hearing impaired

Entry Requirements:

  • Be able to read, write and speak English at WPL Level 4
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4
  • Be able to act in a professional manner

  • SGD 270.84 before GST
