Course Objectives

On completion of this course, learner will have the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a Security Officer and Auxiliary Police Officer to describe contemporary terrorist threats, identify person-borne threats, vehicle-borne threats and object-based threats.

Course Content

This course consists of the following abilities:

  • Identify persons found to be behaving suspiciously
  • Identify disorderly and threatening behaviour
  • Recognise impact of successful terrorist attack on assignment area based on updated information on current terrorist threats
  • Recognise person borne, vehicle-borne and object-based threats based on various TTI of malicious intent and obvious signs
  • Take appropriate action to observe suspicious person(s), vehicles in accordance with protocols in dealing with the respective threats
  • Conduct security questioning on suspicious persons after period of observation
  • Review and report collected information to relevant person / authorities in accordance with organisational procedure on terrorism
  • Characteristics of terrorists
  • Methods of terrorist attack
  • Trends in terrorism
  • Types of observation skills to recognise tell-tale indicators
  • Tell-tale Indicators (TTI) of suspected casing activities, objects or mails with improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) and chemical or biological agents
  • Tell-tale Indicators (TTI) of suspected person-borne, vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)
  • Tell-tale Indicators (TTI) of suspected casing by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
  • Protocols on dealing with person-borne threats, vehicle-borne threats and object-based threats

Minimum Entry Requirement

Qualification:

  • The minimum entry educational qualification for Auxiliary Police Officers and APO (Enforcement) below the rank of Auxiliary Police Inspector shall be 3 GCE ‘N” Level credits, 3 SPM Credits, NITEC or their equivalent.
  • The minimum entry educational qualification for Security Officer shall be 3 GCE ‘N” Level credits, 3 SPM Credits, NITEC or their equivalent and have completed the Basic Licensing Unit.

Nationality:

Singapore Citizens, Malaysian Citizens who are Singapore Permanent Residents or Malaysian holders of Work Permits or Employment Passes.

Physical and Medical Requirement:

  • Certified by a medical doctor to be physically fit for work
  • Not be colour-blind or hearing impaired

Entry Requirements:

  • Be able to read, write and speak English at WPL Level 4
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4
  • Be able to act in a professional manner

  • SGD 370.09 before GST
