This course is developed for community care professionals who work with older persons and their families in the community to help them establish good understanding on family dynamics, recognise the changing trend on family relationships, and develop effective care plans for the older persons and their family caregivers.

• Understand the family system and relationship patterns.
• Understand the history of family relationship and impact on current relationship.
• Typical scenarios and changing trends on family structure.
• Communication skills that can be applied when working with older persons and their families.
• Learn about genogram, steps in drawing a genogram and its possible uses.
• Learn to identify the patterns in genogram and its application in care planning.

Trainers’ Profile
Phyllis Lee holds Masters in Counselling and Gerontology and is ACTA-certified by Singapore Workforce Development Agency. A firm believer in active ageing coupled with her post graduate academic training, she has been actively involved in various discussions and activities (relating to ageing issues) both at the societal level as well as with various government departments.
