Course Objectives
Foundations of Person-Centred Dementia Care is endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Disease International. Based on Person-Centred Care principles, the course emphasises on bestowing personhood on the person with dementia as a social being, providing recognition, respect, and trust (Kitwood, 2011).
This course consists of 5 modules:

Upon completion of all modules (excluding Foundational) within maximum of 6 months, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. SNB-CPE points will be awarded.
The Core Module 3 – Purposeful and Meaningful Engagement aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to promote meaningful activity and engagement to meet individual needs of persons living with dementia.
- Recognise the value of promoting activity and engagement with life for a person with dementia
- Identify goals of engagement to promote different aspects of wellbeing
- Identify ways of adapting activities to meet individual needs
- Develop an individualised activity plan for a person with dementia

Who Should Attend
This module is intended for front-line care staff and volunteers who would like to be equipped with a basic understanding of how to care for people living with dementia in a variety of settings including the family home, centre-based services, and residential care facilities.
