Physical Examination and basic health assessment are performed to check or determine the general health status of an individual. This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and skills in assisting with physical examination and perform basic health assessment in creating a positive outcome for the client during the procedures.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

1. Identify the purpose of physical examination and basic health assessment
2. Assist in the preparation of client, environment and items for physical examination
3. Apply safety precautions during a general physical examination
4. Perform basic health assessment: height, weight and vital signs
5. Perform eye tests: Visual Acuity, Jaegar and Ishihara Test
6. Explain physiology of blood glucose and perform blood glucose monitoring

• Eye tests: Visual Acuity, Jaeger and Ishihara Test
• Procedure of blood glucose monitoring and escalation of potential non-conformance to baselines
