This course aims to provide knowledge and skills in the care of urinary elimination which includes patient/client with urosheath and urinary catheter drainage. It also incorporates the preparation and support of patient/client during urinary catherisation and follow up with perineal catheter care and drainage in accordance to the standard precautions and guidelines.
Learning Outcomes/Objectives
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Explain the basic structure and functions of the urinary system. 2. Identify the signs and symptoms of urinary tract infections 3. Discuss indications and contraindication in the application of urosheath 4. Discuss Indications and complications of urinary catheterization 5. Demonstrate proper application of urosheath. 6. Assist in preparation and support of patient/client for urinary catheterization. 7. Perform proper documentation of urinary output and escalation of any abnormal findings. 8. Perform perineal catheter care, changing of catheter bag and urinary catheter drainage
