Description

Course Objective:

This course provides a robust introduction to volunteer management framework, principles, and best practices. It aims to develop staff in volunteer management competencies to be effective and professional in job designing, recruiting, managing, motivating and retaining volunteers in their respective volunteer programmes to meet organizational needs.

  • The importance and benefits of VMF

2. The Components and Best Practices of 4-stage VMF

  • Identifying the elements in the concept stage of VMF
    • Understanding volunteer involvement philosophy
    • Types of volunteers and profiles, and communication techniques
    • Stakeholder analysis, engagement plan and budget planning
  • Identifying the elements in the planning stage of VMF
    • Administration and database management
    • Job description template
    • Policies, procedures and risk management
  • Identifying the elements in the implementation stage of VMF
    • Types of recruitment and their recruitment techniques

Trainers’ Profile

Lam Moy Yin graduated with Master of Arts in Human Resource Development and Education, George Washington University, Singapore, 2007. She is currently an Adult Educator with Social Service Institute and Associate Lecturer with Republic Polytechnic and has been providing training and consultancy in volunteer management to more than 1000 non-profit staff, volunteer executives and volunteer managers since 2004. Moy Yin is also an experienced Career Coach, Extended-DISC Behaviour Consultant, Action Learning Coach (World Institute for Action Learning).
