Description

Nutrition is an integral part of chronic disease management. This is an introductory course on the basic principles of nutritional management for chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and hypertension. This course is designed to equip the learner with basic knowledge such as identifying sources of carbohydrates, servings of fruit and vegetables, label reading to applying these knowledge to case study examples.

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand basic principles of dietary management for people with diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and hypertension
  • Provide appropriate and accurate basic nutrition and dietary information according to patients’ medical condition.
  • Adopt appropriate counselling skills to empower and motivate patients to make and maintain dietary changes
